PORT MORESBY (AFP) – A 6.1-magnitude seism struck soured the shore of island New Guinea's far New island Atlantic Thursday, seismologists said, but there were no unmediated reports of casualties or damage.

The epicentre of the brawny quake, which impact at 06:10 am (2010 time Wednesday), was settled 103 kilometres (64 miles) south-southwest of the municipality of Kavieng, New Ireland, the US Geological Survey said. It took locate at a alter depth of 19 kilometres.
